Frequently Asked Questions about Smart Components

Smart components are electrical instruments and switchgear devices with built-in measurement, communication, and control intelligence — typically Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet, or proprietary protocols. They allow a building management system or SCADA platform to read energy consumption, voltage quality, current, breaker status, and fault events without manual meter readings. They're the bridge between traditional electrical equipment and modern energy management software.
We supply Multispan smart components (APFC controllers, energy meters, voltage protection relays, water-level controllers), Rishabh meters and instruments, Elmeasure energy management products, and select equivalents from Schneider, ABB, and Siemens. Brand selection is driven by application, the existing plant standard, and local support availability.
Yes. The standard communication protocols (Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet IP) we configure on every smart device are the same ones BMS platforms expect. We supply the Modbus mapping documentation, the BACnet object list, and on commissioned projects we test the integration end-to-end before handover. Custom protocol integration (SNMP, OPC UA) is available on request.
Per-tenant submetering installs an individual kWh meter at each tenant's point of supply (typically the floor or shop distribution board), with Modbus communication to a billing or BMS platform. Tenants are billed against actual consumption rather than a flat rate. We package the meters, CT instrumentation, communication infrastructure, and the configuration into a single deployable solution.
Most retrofits use clip-on or split-core current transformers around existing cables, avoiding any disruption to the bus or feeder. We install the meter (typically Multispan or Rishabh DIN-rail), the CTs, and a small Modbus gateway, then configure the readings to your BMS or energy dashboard. Typical retrofit per metering point: 2–4 hours including commissioning.
