Supply and installation of Variable Frequency Drives for energy-efficient motor control across all industries.

Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Solutions in Kenya

Panel Tech Systems provides complete Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) solutions for motor speed control, energy savings, and process optimization. We design, supply, and commission VFD panels for industrial and commercial applications across East Africa.

Why Use VFD Drives?

Variable Frequency Drives offer significant advantages for motor-driven systems:

  • Energy Savings — Reduce energy consumption by up to 50% on pumps, fans, and compressors
  • Soft Starting — Eliminate mechanical stress and high inrush currents during motor startup
  • Precise Speed Control — Maintain exact process speeds for quality manufacturing
  • Extended Equipment Life — Reduce wear on motors, bearings, and mechanical components
  • Process Automation — Integrate with PLCs and SCADA systems for automated control

Our VFD Product Range

We supply and commission VFD drives from leading global manufacturers:

  • ABB ACS Series — Industrial drives from 0.75kW to 500kW
  • Schneider Altivar — Process and machinery drives
  • Siemens SINAMICS — High-performance drive systems
  • Danfoss VLT — HVAC and water/wastewater drives

Frequently Asked Questions about VFD Drive Solutions

A VFD is an electronic motor controller that varies the frequency and voltage supplied to a 3-phase AC motor in order to vary its running speed. Modern VFDs also provide soft starting, energy savings on variable loads, precise speed and torque control, and protection against overload, phase loss, and ground faults.
On centrifugal loads (pumps, fans, compressors with variable demand) energy savings reach 30–50% because power consumption scales as the cube of speed. On constant-torque loads (conveyors, positive-displacement pumps) the savings are smaller — typically 10–20% — and come mainly from eliminating throttling losses and reducing motor idling.
Use a VFD when you need variable running speed, energy savings on a centrifugal load, frequent starts, or precise torque control. Use a soft starter when you only need to reduce inrush current and mechanical shock on starting, the load runs at fixed speed, and the lower cost matters more than running-time energy management.
We supply Commander C and Commander S drives, NE-200 series drives, and integrate ABB ACS, Schneider Altivar, Siemens SINAMICS, and Danfoss VLT drives into custom panels on request. Brand selection depends on the application — pumps, HVAC, mining, packaging — and on the support network at the install location.
It depends on the total VFD load as a percentage of the supply, the supply impedance, and the local utility's harmonic limits. For installations where VFDs are more than about 20% of total load, line reactors at minimum and active harmonic filters in larger plants are usually required to stay within IEEE 519 / IEC 61000-3-2 limits.
